I am Volodymyr Malenko (in Africa known as VLADI), entrepreneur, traveler, co-owner of the company "Ankit Gems Namibia (PTY) Ltd" and co-founder of the US - AFRICA FOUNDATION.
The idea of creating the foundation came to me naturally after a meeting with Dr. J.P. Garrett in Berkeley. Dr Garrett is a lifelong advocate of freedom, rights and human values for African Americans in the USA and maintains a passion for global progress in Africa in the most humane and broad manifestation of this concept.
As I had already been living in Namibia, DRC, Angola and Zimbabwe for over twenty years and had active life experience there, by the time I met Dr. Garrett, the foundation was ready to be born.
This has become the most interesting and important goal for me in my life at 59 years of age.
In two decades of African life one can see a lot and I have encountered firsthand the most vulnerable and abandoned communities that desperately need help, and improvement in living conditions provided with care toward making life a little better for the people of Africa!
I am very grateful to have an ally like Dr JP Garrett, and feel we will be much more effective and accomplish far more than any of us alone.
The goals of the US - AFRICA FOUNDATION and mission: to provide humanitarian aid toward children's education, malaria control, restoration and preservation of endangered species, and promotion of culture and art, within Namibia, The Democratic Republic of the Congo, and other African countries.

- 1High mortality rateThe WHO African Region carries a disproportionately high share of the global malaria burden. In 2020, the region was home to 95% of malaria cases and 96% of malaria deaths. Children under 5 accounted for about 80% of all malaria deaths in the Region.
- 2No educationAfrica has the highest rates of educational exclusion in the world. Over one-fifth of children between the ages of 6 and 11 and one-third between the ages of 12 and 14 are out of school. Almost 60% of children in sub-Saharan Africa between the ages of 15 and 17 are not in school.
- 3Economic OutlookThe COVID-19 pandemic has had an unprecedented impact on Namibia’s economy and has exacerbated preexisting structural challenges. Real gross domestic product (GDP) contracted by
8.5% in 2020. The rebound is expected to be slower than initially expected, with growth projected at 1.2 percent in 2021 and 2.4 percent in 2022.
